Grassroots DIY eLearning Toolkit
Before our rapid growth, we relied on a flexible Learning Management System (LMS) to meet technical field stakeholder needs, allowing them to manage their own learning content, demos and documentation. The intake process also biased senior leader prioritization. However, as our team expanded and processes became more structured, we moved away from this system, leaving a gap in support for our stakeholders, whose needs continued to grow.
To address this, we developed the Grassroots DIY eLearning Toolkit, which empowers stakeholders to create their own video-based courses using a user-friendly, fill-in-the-blanks format. I designed a “Mad Libs-style” guide in an intuitive Google Slide deck to support stakeholders in designing their eLearning courses. Stakeholders complete the “forms” on each slide, and my team then uses their entries to build the final eLearning course.
Using Mastery Learning principles as its foundation, this solution enables field teams to develop relevant training content quickly, reducing lead time from 25-30 hours to just 4 hours. Courses remain active for a year, with creators responsible for updates to ensure relevance.
This toolkit ensures flexibility, consistency, and speed, helping us better meet the evolving needs of the field and support business goals.
