A leading blogger in the African American natural hair care community sought to create an accessible and engaging educational resource for her followers. Her previous tutorials, delivered through live seminars and YouTube videos, were valuable but limited in reach. Together, we developed an approach to engage her younger demographic through easy-to-follow illustrations and clear, concise instructions.

We developed “A Love 4 Me: Techniques & Styles for Maintaining Highly Textured Hair,” a set of ten fun, simple, quick-reference flash cards designed for people of all ages to manage and style their tightly textured natural hair at home. This product offers short, clear, illustrated, step-by-step tutorials in plain language for daily hair maintenance and styling. The flash cards are also available as a downloadable PDF for easy access on electronic devices.

The set includes:

• 5 maintenance cards featuring general tips, styling tools, and instructions for detangling, cleansing and conditioning, and moisturizing hair.

• 5 styling cards showcasing basic styles, along with helpful tips and tricks.

Each card provides clear instructions paired with corresponding photos to guide users through each step with ease.

I contributed to the photoshoot by assisting with styling, editing the photos in Adobe Photoshop, and overseeing the art direction. Additionally, I created the branding, visual design, and instructional development of the flashcards in Adobe Indesign and Illustrator.
