Security & Confidentiality eLearning

Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) employees are required by the U.S. Department of Education to complete Security & Confidentiality training upon hire and annually.

I was tasked with updating the existing approved training to ensure compliance with the latest federal and state guidelines. The updated training also needed to emphasize three critical security issues: proper use of passwords and the handling of Personally Identifiable Information.

I developed a 15-minute interactive eLearning compliance course featuring a graphic novel, scenario-based format that addressed real-life employee situations and best practices for resolving them. I also designed custom, scalable illustrations representing the actual FLDOE OSFA office environment.

The e-Learning module received positive reviews and feedback. Learners and FLDOE OSFA leadership noted that they appreciated how the module directly addressed inter-employee conflicts related to the use of PII and felt better equipped to manage the real-life scenarios covered. They also highlighted that the content was engaging, humorous, and visually appealing.

This course later became the foundation for security compliance training across the entire FLDOE agency.
